Brian Katarski Speaks on Scaling UP! H2O Podcast

AquaPhoenix Scientific’s very own Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Brian Katarski, sat down with Trace Blackmore to discuss effective feedback strategies on episode 374 of the Scaling UP! H2O Podcast. Brian’s extensive experience in sales, marketing, and the water industry has provided him with insight on how to effectively gather and utilize feedback from within and outside the company. This system of seeking and implementing feedback is a pillar of AquaPhoenix’s company culture.

In episode 374 of the Scaling UP! H2O podcast, Brian discusses the process of building a healthy feedback culture and the pitfalls to avoid. Topics include encouraging an open mindset, avoiding justifying criticism, focusing on positive and negative feedback, and working to prevent confirmation bias.

AquaPhoenix’s  Approach to Feedback

Brian explains the five key steps to starting and maintaining a feedback process. From identifying what you want to track, analyzing the data, and acting on the provided feedback, Brian provides a comprehensive guide to leveraging feedback for improvement. “First off, what do you want to know? What information are you trying to get from them?” Brian emphasizes the importance of having a clear objective from the start.

Beyond having a feedback program is creating a culture that supports the program and encourages the feedback loop. Brian talks about building an environment where feedback is valued and acted upon, something AquaPhoenix works towards daily. “The biggest piece to it is if you want to encourage this long-term over time is you have to respond to the feedback. You can’t just ignore it.”

Finally Brian suggests using multiple methods to get feedback. This ensures varied responses and reaching different audiences. “You’ve got to try some different tactics and different things to try to reach certain people. Sometimes it’s a quick paper survey, maybe you send an email, or a link with your service reports.”
